Rules/FAQs

Q: Are you open now?

A: Yes, our downtown LA location has now reopened. We also have several online games available that can be played remotely on a computer from almost anywhere in the world.

Q: Are we really locked inside the room?

A: No, these are all simulated experiences and you can leave at any time.

Q: What are the COVID protocols?

A: Beginning Monday, November 22, The City of Los Angeles requires that ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR GROUP provide proof of FULL COVID VACCINATION (two doses) along with photo ID. Alternately, you can provide proof of negative COVID test from a provider or laboratory taken no more than 72 hours prior to your game time. Refunds will be provided if you’ve made a booking and contact us in advance to cancel. However, if your group arrives at our location without proof of vaccination, there will be no refunds available.

In addition, face coverings must be worn at all times at Escape Room LA.

Q: Location and parking options?

A: In-person games are held at 120 E. 8th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Nearest parking is a lot next door to us on 8th Street. Prices vary. This map shows area parking locations.

Q: How early should we be there / sign on?

A: Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your game start time. If you’re coming to our downtown LA location, be sure to allow extra time for traffic and parking. If you arrive late, you will lose time from your game.

Q: What is the refund/exchange policy?

A: You are purchasing tickets to a timed, live-action event. Therefore, all sales are final. There are no refunds. Rescheduling permitted with at least 48 hours notice. If you need to reschedule with less than 48 hours notice, there will be a $20 rebooking fee per game.

Q: Can children participate?

A: FOR IN-PERSON GAMES: Children ages 12 and under are not permitted. An adult must be inside the game if children ages 13-15 are playing.
FOR ONLINE GAMES: Kids versions of our online games The Lost Pyramid, Escape From Planet X and Curse of the Dark Raven are available for ages 10-13. After making your booking, just email us and let us know you’d like the kids version of the game.

Q: Will other people be in the room with us? Can I have the room just for my group?

A: All of our games are private. It will always be just your group playing – no strangers. There is a live person in the game. They will never be in close contact with your group and will remain at a safe distance throughout the game – there is never any direct contact in any way with anyone in your group. All our staff are vaccinated.

Q: Can I add more people to my booking?

Q: What do we need to bring?

A: If playing in-person, please bring a copy of your booking confirmation. For the online and outdoor games, just have something for note taking

Q: Can I play the same game twice?

A: Definitely no! It would be unfair to the other participants and likely not as much fun for you either. But you’re welcome and encouraged to try any of our other games. They are all unique and different.

Q: Why does my credit card statement say 'Race/LA'?

A: Race/LA is our company name. We create and produce interactive games and events throughout Southern California. Check our website here for details.

Q: Is this something scary?

A: Not at all. None of our games are horror themed, and there are no jump scares or extended periods of darkness. The Haunted Theatre online game is a little bit creepy, but definitely not very scary.

Q: Can I purchase gift vouchers that can be used for any games?

A: Yes! Purchase here.

Q: Any tips or suggestions?

A: The surest way to escape is by sharing information openly with all players. Talk to each other and work together to solve puzzles. If you discover new information, be sure everyone in the room knows about it.
