Q: Are you open now?

A: Our physical location in downtown LA is temporarily closed, however we currently have three online live streaming games available now. Click here for more details.

Q: Are we really locked inside the room?

A: No, these are all simulated experiences and you can leave at any time.

Q: Where can we park?

A: See this area parking map. The closest option is a pay lot right next to our building on 8th Street. Prices vary.

Q: Where are you located?

A: 120 E. 8th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. This is a 9-story commercial office building on the south side of 8th Street at the corner of Los Angeles Street.

Q: How early should we get there?

A: Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your game start time.

Q: What is the refund/exchange policy?

A: • You are purchasing tickets to a timed, live-action event. Therefor, all sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges.

Q: Can children participate?

A: In general, these games are designed for adults and recommended for ages 14 and up – some younger children might find the clues to be too difficult.

Our policies regarding children are:

  • Children ages 9 to 13 are not permitted at Escape Room LA unless you are booking one of our special weekend kids games, or booking the whole room for your group only. Other groups of adults may not wish to play these games with young children.
  • Children 16 and under must be accompanied inside the room by an adult (18+).
  • Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a release of liability waiver. This waiver will be provided when checking in, or can be downloaded in advance here.

Regardless of age, all participants must have a ticket.
  • Children under age 14 are not permitted at The Pyramid.
  • Our events are not appropriate for children under the age of 9.

Kid-friendly version of The Theatre, The Alchemist and The Detective are available for kids ages 9-13. Click here for more info.

Q: Will other people be in the room with us? Can I have the room just for my group?

A: Depending on the game capacity, a total of up to 12 people will be admitted to the room at one time. If you purchase fewer than the maximum number of tickets, most likely other people will also be in the room with you.

Our games are generally designed for larger groups. We do not have games for only 2-3 players.

If you wish to have a room for your group only, you have two options:

1. Click the “Private event – book entire game” checkbox. If you have fewer people than the game capacity but would like the game private for your group only, click the “Private event – book entire game” checkbox. The remaining tickets will be blocked from sale, however your price per person will become slightly higher. There is a minimum of 4 people for a private event booking. If you make a private event booking for fewer than 4 people, you will still be charged the minimum 4-person rate.

2. Purchase all tickets for the room capacity for the game you wish to attend. You do not need to have the maximum number of participants, but you do need to pay for the full room.

Q: How much is it?

A: $29 per person weekday evenings / $39 per person weekends.
Weekday daytime group rates are available here. Discounts are also available when booking two or more full games.
E-mail us or call 213-689-3229 for details.

Q: When are you open?

A:  Advance booking either online or by phone is strongly recommend. We can not always accommodate walk-in guests without bookings.

Our hours are:

Monday: 9:30am to 6:00pm

Tuesday through Friday: 9:30am to 9:30pm

Saturdays: 11:30am to 10:00pm

Sundays: 12:00pm to 8:00pm.

Contact us for details.

Q: How long is it?

A: The games are 50-60 minutes. But plan on spending about 90 minutes for the whole experience – before your game we’ll review the rules and answer any questions. After the game we’ll do a short recap of your accomplishments and explain how to solve the remaining puzzles if you haven’t escaped.

Q: What do we need to bring?

A: A printout or electronic version of your booking confirmation.

If anyone in your group is under the age of 18, they must have a liability waiver signed by a parent or guardian. This waiver will be provided when checking in, or can be downloaded in advance here.

Q: Are there nearby places to eat, drink or get coffee/drinks?

A: Definitely yes – there are many places within just a few blocks of our building. We’re located just east of Gallery Row, one of Downtown LA’s most lively neighborhoods!
Check out our suggestions for nearby restaurants here.

Q: Can you hold weekday daytime games?

A: Yes we can, anytime between 9am and 5:30pm Monday through Friday. Weekday daytime games can be booked online, or feel free to call us for details.

Q: Can I play the same game twice?

A: Definitely no! It would be unfair to the other participants and likely not as much fun for you either. But you’re welcome and encouraged to come back and try one of our other games. They are all unique and different.

Q: Are the rooms handicapped accessible?

A: Yes, both The Detective and The Theatre are handicapped accessible. The other games can accommodate smaller wheelchairs.

Q: Why does my credit card statement say 'Race/LA'?

A: Race/LA is our company name. We create and produce interactive games and events throughout Southern California. Check our website here for details.

Q: Is this something scary?

A: Not at all. None of our games are horror themed, and there are no jump scares or extended periods of darkness.

Q: Can I purchase gift vouchers that can be used for any games?

A: Yes! Purchase here.

Q: Can I bring my pet?

A: Pets of any kind are not permitted in the rooms. If you have a service animal that must accompany you at this event, you must contact us in advance of your scheduled booking. We will make every effort to accommodate you, however your choices of available dates and times may be limited.

Q: Any tips or suggestions?

A: The surest way to escape is by sharing information openly with everyone else in the room. Talk to each other and work together to solve puzzles. If you discover new information, be sure everyone in the room knows about it.

There is no need to lift or move heavy objects, or climb on top of furniture.

If you have already played an Escape Room LA game, you can not play that same game again.

None of our games require the use of force. If something seems secured in place, it is.

Don't guess random combinations, try to pick locks, or use force to try opening locks.

If you break something in one of our games by using excessive force or reckless behavior, you must pay for it.

Cell phones and other electronic devices must remain off and can not be used during the games.

Children ages 12 and under are not permitted at Escape Room LA unless you are booking the whole room for your group only. Other groups of adults may not wish to play these games with young children.

Children ages 16 and under must be accompanied inside the room by an adult.

Arrive at least 10 minutes before your game start time. These are live-action events. You must arrive on time in order to participate. If you arrive after the door to the room has been locked, you will not be allowed to participate. There are no refunds or exchanges so please allow more time than you think you might need - LA traffic in the downtown area can be unpredictably heavy at random times of the day or evening.

If you're planning to get some drinks while you're downtown attending Escape Room LA, please plan to do this after the game, not before. You'll want to have all of your brain cells working at 100% capacity while you're in the room!

PLEASE NOTE: If members of your group appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will not be allowed in the room. This decision will be made at the discretion of our staff and no refunds or exchanges will be permitted. We take this very seriously as it could cause damage to the room, to yourself or others, and adversely affect others’ enjoyment of the experience.
